New Passive Fundraising Tool: Shoparoo App
At our recent PTA board meeting, the board added the Shoparoo app (for iPhone or Android phones) as a passive fundraising tool for Bridlewood. No clipping or collecting is required. Simply sign up and use your name or make something up and then snap pictures of grocery receipts, including Tom Thumb, Kroger, Market Street, Target, Walmart etc. They sell data of what we buy to companies for marketing purposes (e.g., Flower Mound families prefer a certain brand of toilet paper).
Credit card companies are already sharing this data, but now we get money for their use of our information. Just this week with a few board members taking pictures of their receipts, we have earned almost $10.00. This doesn't seem like much (there were only about 5 people getting started), but every little bit helps, and it's easy. Nobody has received a marketing email as of yet, and the app says they don't share/sell our email address. Nobody can see where you shop or the items you purchase. You can even black out items you don't want recorded, including your name on your receipt. Spread the word. For every person that signs up through an email link, we get 100 bonus points! So if you haven't received an email link, email Alison Bowdouris at email@example.com, and she will send you one.
Shoparoo is a free mobile app available on iPhone and Android that turns pictures of your grocery receipts into instant donations. Shop at any store, buy any product, and simply snap a photo of the receipt with Shoparoo to make a donation to Bridlewood Elementary.
